New Sun: News

Recording in progress - August 9, 2008

At last we have re entered the studio together for the first time in 7 years. Rough start as we found our groove, but man what has been laid down is awesome( even if I must say so myself).
Four songs, Mistake, Damage, Memories, and She's Moved Me, have drums/bass tracked with CSC to do guitars this coming week. Vocals and etc are after that.
Stay tuned for small snippets of each of these to be posted here soon.
This promises to be a more groove oriented CD than New Sun has done before. Still with that odd meter slant and dark edge. But then again, times are edgy these days . . .

It has Begun - May 21, 2008

New Sun has been in studio rehearsing new material for 2 months now. Chris Trujillo (drums, vocals), Alex Kley (bass), and Christopher Scott Cooper (guitars, vocals) have reunited and are currently working on the songs Chasm City, Mistakes, She's Moved Me, Spewtum and Random Access Memories. Chasm City is based on the novel of the same name by Sci-Fi writer Alastair Reynolds from Wales.
No release dates are confirmed, but samples should be here at the site by mid summer.

March 2008 - March 12, 2008

Busy, busy as usual.
Look on the music page to see what CSC has been working on lately. This is a cover of a classic song by a classic artist. Can you guess who the artist is?
Requested by a label in LA for inclusion on a meditation CD. Gus Fjelstrom (Maximum Indifference) guest on bass and loops.

SciFi writer Alastair Reynolds has given OK for CSC to release the song Chasm City based on book of same name. This will be released in June. Watch here for a short sample of the song by April.

CSC has been very busy in rehearsals with his other band MindFurniture<http://www.mindfurniture.com>
and things are progressing quite nicely. Look for shows this Summer in the SF Bay Area

CSC has also been busy tracking and mixing, as well as playing guitar on, the new Genre Peak CD Preternatural<http://www.genrepeak.net>. Slated for release this Summer.
